The modern heroism of Ukrainian soldiers in battles with Moscow mercenaries has a blood and spiritual connection with the heroism of the Ukrainian Cossack army, which for centuries heroically defended Ukraine from the attacks of the Moscow horde.
This is what inspired the famous Zaporizhia artist Kostyantyn Rotan to create a heroic diptych on which the line between the ages and the present is allegedly erased. Looking into the faces of the Cossacks, depicted in full historical correspondence to the details of clothing, weapons, and natural surroundings, you see definitely heroic leaders of the times of the Cossacks. You see Courage, Honor, Courage. Insurmountable Will to Victory.

It is symbolic that the paintings were presented in honor of the Feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine and on the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks at the service in the Garrison Church of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, located on the territory of the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine. During the service, prayer requests were heard for the defenders of Ukraine, for the Ukrainian people, for the speedy liberation of the country from the invasion of foreigners. The service was attended by the Commander of the United Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Naev, military personnel defending the northern borders of our country, residents and guests of the capital.
The paintings were presented and donated by Ukrainian military volunteer Oleksandr Deev from the "Protect the Future" Charity Foundation.
